The Whitespire Birch (Betula populifolia) displays chalk-white bark that does not exfoliate. has a beautiful spire-like upright form, white non-exfoliating bark and excellent bronze birch borer resistance. Leaves are glossy, dark green turning yellowish-green in fall. It most often appears in a multi-trunked form, but also grows with a single trunk. It thrives in cool northern summers, but does poorly in the heat and humidity. Whitespire is a medium to fast growing tree.
Prefers full sun to part shade, is very adaptable preferring moist, well drained, slightly acidic soils that are likely to remain cool
